i love how even real actual people (not fictional characters!) can be put down for being “stereotypical white males” now, apparently. hey if they wanted to make interesting video games, why did they have to be white dudes??? cuz they were born that way?? haha nice excuse priviledge-head 

Well, this just makes me want to puke. Some people are just incapable of seeing talented, hardworking people find great success through Kickstarter after a track record of producing fun, memorable works because it means that those people are somehow holding back their pet projects from success. Which makes them EVIL and BAD.

Man, I guess I should feel bad about being a 30-something, white guy who gave money to this cool project, except WAIT I’M NOT. The struggle between the two projects the image is suggesting DOES NOT EXIST. If the people behind the oh-so-forward-thinking, stereotype-smashing, revolutionary game on the right had ever produced a work as awesome and beloved as Psychonauts, they’d be rolling in the dough, too! Make the art you believe in and find your audience. If you’re any good at all and you work your ass off for years and years and you’re not an asshole to everyone, you’ll find success. Probably. Hopefully.

It’s just that 99% of the time, whenever I see someone crying online about “the Man” keeping them or someone else down, it seems that they believe the only reason the whole world isn’t lining up to hand them wads of money is because the Powers That Be have some vendetta against them. Hey, maybe you just suck?

Just do the work. You idiot.

(I fully realize that the person responsible for this image probably has nothing to do with the struggling project, and I have nothing against their work. If the game has promise, I wish them all the luck. I just hate this sort of sour grapes attitude. I’m pleased as punch that Double Fine’s project is blowing up like it is. They deserve it!)
